Engage Befriending

Engage Befriending connects isolated older people with their communities by matching them with a volunteer befriender. Our volunteers visit older people in their homes and can take them out on trips. We also signpost to other organisations, local activities and events.

In May 2013 we became a part of The Mustard Tree Foundation and demand for our service has continued to rise.  Over the last year our volunteers have carried out over 2000 hours of visiting.  The support received from Springboard has enabled us to have contact with more older people who would otherwise be lonely, and to recruit and train additional befrienders.

Clients have said;

‘She’s been such a good friend to me. I am so lucky you found her’, ‘ I have made a new friend and look forward to her visits’, ‘ I’m thrilled, it’s fantastic’

And Volunteers have said;

‘I feel like I am doing something worthwhile’,  ‘I really look forward to my visits and enjoy our chats’
