Ben Cross

Ben is a Deacon and Trustee at Grace Church Caversham. In his other world, Ben works for a local voluntary sector infrastructure organisation supporting a wide range of community groups working with children, young people and families. He has a passion to see young people become everything they can be in Christ, and seeing churches work together to effect transformational change in their local communities.

David Turner

Business career has been predominantly in property management within the Utility sector (British Gas, Thames Water and Network Rail). Trustee and volunteer at CIRDIC in Reading and founder member of The Family Business. Attends The Chapel, West End Mortimer and active in a number of church activities and initiatives in Reading area for many years. Has interests in charitable activity in India and more recently, Macedonia.

Grace Turner

On the management board of 'School Pastors' for the Willink School. Trustee for 'Breakthrough Learning' a registered charity dedicated to transforming the lives of children and adults by developing learning and thinking skills. Team member at 'Time4U' a place where mums can come and have their child cared for while mum enjoys doing a craft. Teaches School Staff on 'Child Abuse' and Students on 'Internet Safety' in various parts of India. Strong connections with Macedonia and Bulgaria. Enjoys spending time with four grandchildren.

Angela Wills

Angela has a professional background in Adult Education. She has been an active member of English Martyrs parish for the last 40 years and spent ten years as a paid Advisor for Collaborative Ministry for the Roman Catholic diocese of Portsmouth. She is a Trustee and volunteer at CIRDIC (Churches in Reading Drop in Centre) and also works as a Spiritual Director. With five married adult children and thirteen grandchildren, life is never dull in the Wills household.

Mark Macdonald

Mark says that what gets him out of bed in the morning is the opportunity to see people reach their potential, engage with others and see God's creativity at work.  As Springboards facilitator Mark has the opportunity to engage with others and help promote their dreams.  As a medical doctor Mark has always engaged with people in need.  Years of working with people affected by leprosy granted the privilege of helping those in desperate situations.  Mark has trained in community development, worked in remote rural communities and urban rubbish dumps.  Working with others in Springboard he brings a blend of skills and life experiences to tackling some of the challenging issues of Reading for the Kingdom.

Sarah Porton

Sarah is the Springboard administrator and first point of contact, though she is currently on maternity leave.  She is a mum and wife, artist, poet, seeker of truth and justice and lover of sparkles amongst many other things! She attends The Gate where she is a part of the worship team.

James Butler

James has been involved in social action, prayer and mission through 24-7 Prayer, Latin Link and a number of other groups and organisations.  He works as a private tutor in Maths and Physics and is currently studying a PhD looking at how social action relates to the life of the church through studying a number of Small Missional Communities.  He is a member of St Laurence's Church in Reading.

Rebecca Baker

Rebecca is covering the Springboard administrator role. Her background is in support for disadvantaged and marginalised people across a range of settings, including a community project for homeless people in London, and a school for excluded teenagers here in Reading.  She currently works with two projects at The Mustard Tree Foundation and is part of the church family at The Gate.

Christine Burton

Chris has been in IT for over 20 years, working to improve customer support through quality management and continual improvement. She is a foster carer for Reading Borough Council specialising in teenagers as well as looking after 3 of her own children. Chris is involved in Youth Ministry at English Martyrs Parish, aiming to fulfil the vision of the new evangelisation of Portsmouth Diocese. She enjoys cooking, tennis and climbing mountains – in both nature and in life.

Malcolm Pierce

Malc began his working life in the financial sector before spending 17 years in teaching. Since then he has been involved with Sound Foundation, The Call England and the 24-7 prayer movement, co-founding Reading Boiler Room and travelling to a number of European countries sharing the vision. He was appointed Director of Faith Christian Group in April 2006. Having a passion for the poor and marginalised, at "Faith" he has at overseen the development of the Food Bank, ReadiFood, into one of the largest in the U.K., set up a small housing project for recovering addicts and launched Reading’s winter night shelter “A Bed for the Night.” Malcolm is married to Kate and is a member of LifeSpring Church on the Oxford Road.
